Using The Cards
The SIGHT CARDS flashcards include different formats. The most basic format is the sight word on the front side and a blank card on the back side. You can utilize any of the "game ideas" found on this page with this format.
You or your child can simply tap/click a card to flip it. To advance a card to the next card in the deck, you or your child can "swipe" across a card or use the arrow controls at the bottom of the deck.
If a child has difficulty with one of the sight word cards, you can use the "star" feature to mark that card and save it for later. All the "starred" cards will be available to study separately at the end of the deck.
Each flashcard deck also includes the "switch" feature and "shuffle" feature. You can use the "switch" feature to switch the front and back sides of the cards, allowing you to show the back side of the cards first. The "shuffle" feature will randomly shuffle the cards in the deck.
The "star" feature allows you or your child to "mark" a card for study later. Each "starred" card will be added to the end of the deck and can be studied after finishing the current set of cards.
This feature allows you to come back to sight words that were difficult for your child and revisit them to reinforce learning.
The "shuffle" feature allows you to randomize the deck at any time. Simply click the "shuffle" button on any deck to randomize the cards.
This helps reinforce learning by not showing the same sight words in the same order every time, thus eliminating the chances of simply "memorizing" the order.
Some of the flashcard sets are reserved for higher membership levels. For example, if you have a free membership level, you will need to sign up to one of the paid levels to access more cards.
If you are already signed up to the "Smart Learner" level, you will need to upgrade to the "Genius Learner" level in order to have access to all the cards and material we offer.
Simply use the "Game Ideas" found on this page to start teaching your child sight words.
If you need more ideas, there are many resources we offer as well as other resources and inspiration online with many of them being free.
